Summer 2023 FABS Newsletter
Welcome to the PTA section.
Friends at Breamore School (FABS)
Friends at Breamore School (FABS) is the School’s parents and teachers association and we extend a very warm welcome to you and your family. We play a very exciting and important role in life at Breamore School and aim to strengthen the home/school relationship to ensure families enjoy their time as part of the school community.
We are also responsible for raising extra funds for vital school equipment and resources and hold various events to help achieve this. And have fun of course!
Who are FABS?
If you have a connection to Breamore School as a parent, teacher, assistant, carer or grandparent, then you are a friend. There is no need to join, be elected or subscribe although we do have a committee that is responsible for the day-to-day funning of FABS to enable fund raising activities to take place.
We’re a friendly committee and would love to hear your ideas. To get in touch, please let the office know and they will connect you.
How do I get involved?
There are many ways for you to be involved in FABS activities without attending meetings! Although, we’d love to see as many faces as possible at our meetings which are usually held monthly either after school drop off or before pick up. Meeting details are advertised in the School newsletter so keep an eye out for the next meeting date.
Other fabulous ways to be involved include supporting our events by attending them or helping out for an hour or two; sponsoring your child; making donations of goods or services such as electrical, gardening, building etc, and sharing your ideas. If being involved directly isn’t your thing, you could always set up a direct debt to make a regular financial contribution to our fund raising efforts! Every little bit helps so why not come and have some fun with us!
How much money is raised and what does it buy?
All of the funding raised goes back into the school to buy valuable equipment and resources such as the Mathletics subscription, iPads, readers, playground and sporting equipment, gardening tools and planters, music equipment and special treats for our students for working so hard!
Our biggest project currently on the go is construction of “The Cabin”, the school’s new multi-functional outdoor learning space. It is part of a staged approach to improving the school’s outdoor landscape which will continue to be developed over the coming years with much of the funding raised by FABS going into this project. Without the funding raised by FABS, these improvements just wouldn’t be possible.
What types of events do we run?
We like our events to be fun social events that involve the entire school community! The Christmas and Summer Fairs are always a big hit with plenty to eat, drink, see and do and they are also good fund raisers. Our children love the sponsored walks, disco and our more recently introduced movie nights. Regular bake sales, ice lolly stalls in summer, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls are all great fund raisers and bring smiles to faces! We end the school year with our alfresco “Breakfast on the Field” to say thank you to the entire school community. So come and join in, raise much needed funds and have some fun – the more, the merrier!
Our target for this year is to raise £6000
Help us make it happen!
