A foundation for life

Learning Outside

'The most effective kind of education is that a child should play amongst lovely things' Plato.

What could be more lovely than the world outside our school?
We are so lucky to have amazing school grounds and to be situated in a beautiful part of Hampshire. We want our children to experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances.

Every child in the school takes part in the Hampshire Trailblazers scheme - taking their learning outdoors.

As a school, we recognise the value in enrichment trips bringing learning alive. Years 3 and 4 visit Minstead Study centre for a three day residential. It is a great trip that really helps children think about the environment and sustainability. In Years 5/6 children visit PGL on the Isle of Wight.

We also have worked with children, staff, parents and the community to create a landscape plan to help us think strategically about developing our grounds to maximise their use. See below.
